Bill that BANS Removal of PRIDE Flags in Classrooms Gains Momentum

A bill that would ban removal of Pride flags from government facilities, including public and charter schools, is gaining momentum at the Minnesota Capitol. HF 4273, authored by a man who pretends to be a woman, Rep Leigh Finke, just gained 17 co-authors on Monday. There’s currently no companion bill in the Minnesota Senate.

If passed, Finke’s bill would prohibit a government entity, including municipalities and schools, from removing or banning “the display of rainbow banners, rainbow flags, rainbow posters, or any visual display of rainbows.” Essentially, as long as one person in a city hall, classroom or library decides to unilaterally display a Pride flag, the flag would have to remain in place by law.
