I’ll be the first to admit, that I was a bit worried that Trump’s political consultants were going to sway him into picking a lackluster Tim Scott or even worse, a neocon warlover like Nikki Haley to run on the ticket. The problem with those picks is that it would’ve signaled to a guy like me (and countless others) that his campaign is not about building a future movement – it’s about business as usual.
Trump has so much momentum right now in the campaign after the disastrous Biden debate performance, the dismissal of the classified documents case and the assassination attempt on his life, that picking the wrong VP could have taken the wind out of the sails.
But Trump didn’t screw it up. He didn’t listen to the cronies advising him. He went with JD Vance, a man who is self made, who came from nothing, and eventually became a New York Times bestselling author – then U.S. Senator – and the next Vice President of the greatest country in the world.
If you haven’t read or watched the movie “Hillbilly Elegy,” I would highly recommend you do. Vance grew up in poverty, with divorced parents and a mother who was a chronic drug adict. He was accustomed to abuse growing up and had a lot against him. If odds makers were taking bets on his life, there wouldn’t be a lot of money on him amounting to much.
But after graduating high school, Vance enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and had a successful deployment to Iraq. That means he is the only person on either major presidential ticket who honorably served in our Armed Forces.
After leaving the military, Vance attended Ohio State University and graduated with honors. His good marks in school were enough to get him accepted to Yale Law School, where he ended up getting his law degree. With his modest beginnings, he already had punched way above his weight at this point.
But then he started his professional career that included working as a lawyer, then in venture capitol and eventually creating his own firm. He was impressive enough to get the attention of Pete Thiel who was an investor in his startup.
Vance also wrote a book that became a New York Times bestseller and that was produced into a popular movie on Netflix.
Then came 2022, a midterm election and many eyes were on the “swing state” of Ohio. Vance was the Republican nominee and he was facing a very popular Democrat politician, Tim Ryan. That November, Vance won the race by 6 points and became one of the youngest, rising stars of the conservative ranks in the Republican Party.
Vance is the first millennial to be on a presidential ticket and will turn 40 years old just a few months before the election. He’s married with two children and has, for the most part, had a good voting record in the U.S. Senate.
But that hasn’t stopped the haters and the left wing media from bringing up the fact that Vance wasn’t on board with Donald Trump in his 2016 race. Which I find completely okay since many, including yours truly, didn’t think Trump would deliver. Vance made disparaging comments in private about Trump and even some publicly.
Although, in the eight years that have passed, it seems Vance has grown to appreciate Trump and is well liked in the MAGA movement. This was an excellent pick because it shows Trump is interested in the future of the movement instead of the short range objective of winning in November – both can be accomplished with Vance on the ticket.
I applaud Trump for this pick and look forward to see the torch of this powerful and important America First movement passed on to a new generation and to someone who isn’t a swamp dwelling, elitist sell out! We have a Republic to save!
Hey people!!!!!
Good mood and good luck to everyone!!!!!
