Independent voters swing elections and matter a great deal. But the most important factor in winning an election is who can energize their base to get out and vote on election day. And according to a new poll done by the Star Tribune/Kare 11/MPR, Trump is outperforming Biden by a lot in that category.
With 732 respondents as a sample size, the poll found that only 31% were “very enthusiastic” about Joe Biden as the candidate vs 62% who were “very enthusiastic” about Trump, amongst supporters.
33% of respondents were “not very” or “not at all” enthusiastic about Joe Biden as their candidates vs only 17% with Trump amongst supporters.
The poll found that Biden was leading Trump by four points overall, which is in the poll’s margin of error.
With Trump dominating Biden in voter enthusiasm, that four point gap might easily be closed by Trump turning out more of his voters in November than Biden. It also means he may raise more money than Biden, which will be key to winning over the 7% of undecideds found in the poll.
What do you think Trump’s chances are of winning Minnesota?
