Minnesota Gov’t Overtaxed You by $6.6 Billion; You’re Owed $2,700 Back

The Minnesota Management and Budget office released their February Economic Report that showed the state government has continued to overtax Minnesotans, despite Democrats growing government by over $15 Billion this biennium. With 2.4 million taxpayers in the state, you are owed $2,700 back from the government.

While the lazy, corporate media and political pundits tell you that the surplus is $3.7 Billion, they neglect to mention that our government continues to hold onto a record $2.9 Billion in reserves. That money is never going to be used and should be immediately given back to us as well.

How to Give it Back???

Senator Nathan Wesenberg recently introduced a bill that would eliminate the bottom marginal income tax rate for all Minnesotans. Under his bill, married couples filling jointly would not pay taxes on the first $46,000 of their income. This would be a savings of $2,500 and would mean that the surplus would easily pay for this legislation.

Wesenberg’s bill has a Democrat co-author, Sen John Hoffman. If Democrats really support “working families,” then they should fast track the passage of S.F. 4264.
