Itasca County Sheriff Joe Dasovich, newly elected from 2022, has been attacked by the liberal media after it was discovered that the new Itasca County jail had the Ten Commandments painted on the wall in the gymnasium.
Prior to his election as Sheriff, Dasovich was Nashwauk Chief of Police and is very well-liked and respected in the community. This Iron Range police officer pledged to be a Constitutional Sheriff and won landslide elections in the primary and general elections. He has held good on his promise so far to make Itasca County a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary, a plan he supported the County Commissioners proposing, protecting northern Minnesotans from tyrannical gun control.
He now faces off against the woke mob again for defending the Bible.
The Itasca Co. Jail was scheduled for some projects and reconstruction after a requirement by the state Dept. of Corrections. This project cost $60M and made several improvements to the facility. Included in this were several biblical, spiritual, and motivational quotes and a giant display of the Ten Commandments.
One member of the public reported this to the ‘Freedom From Religion Foundation’ (FFRF) and Sheriff Joe stated that, “The purpose of the display among other historical quotes was to encourage and support our inmate programs… the display and related quotes are not intended to offend or create division.” Leftists now accuse Sheriff Joe of trying to impose a ‘state religion’ and ‘forced religious beliefs’.
The FFRF previously attacked, and unfortunately were successful, in removing the Ten Commandments from the Kanabec County Courthouse. Dasovich says jail administrator Lucas Thompson is the individual who envisioned this plan and was willing to fight it in court. Thompson even polled the inmates and found support for Bible quotes.
Dasovich also says that he has been receiving an overwhelming amount of support to keep the paintings. Dasovich must now stand strong and refuse to paint over the quotes and the Ten Commandments! He cannot cave on this! No wonder many now see we are in a spiritual warfare!
