Yesterday, we reported that Democrat State Senator Nicole Mitchell was arrested in Detroit Lakes for 1st degree burglary. She represents Woodbury, a city more than three hours south-east of the area. Mitchell spent the night in the Becker County jail with little information given to the public about the arrest. But we now have the probable cause document from the arresting police officer, and this looks bad for the freshman senator.
According to Statement of Probable Cause, Mitchell entered the home of her step mother, whom she alleges has cut communication with her since her father’s passing. A call was placed by the step mother at 4:45 am and police found Mitchell in the basement.
Mitchell was found wearing “black clothing and a black hat.” She had a bag which contained “two laptops, a cell phone, and other items.” Police asked her about the laptop and she told them they were both hers. However, it turns out that the laptop belonged to the step mother.

From the report, it appears that all the components of Minnesota’s Statute on Burglary in the First Degree are met. If found guilty, Mitchell would be required to at least spend 6 months in a work house.
UPDATE: At 11:00 am this morning, Sen Nicole Mitchell had her first hearing at the Becker County courthouse. An omnibus hearing is scheduled for June 10th, 2024. Below are the conditions of her bail:
Update at 3:00 pm this afternoon: Sen Nicole Mitchell made her first public comments on her Facebook page and is trying to sound like she was checking up on a loved one suffering from Alzheimers. She’s even receiving sympathy from people.
This is nuts! She drove from Woodbury at 1:00 am in the morning, broke into the basement of the home, wearing all black and had a black sock over the flashlight, then stuffed a bag full of items from the home and hid from the cops when they showed up. How can people buy this story?
2 things…. 1. Tell Dawson to stop commenting until he grows up and realizes the law exists for a reason. Does he still live at home and ride an electric scooter to the set?
2. She probably has no criminal history. She will receive a plea deal that will include a set-aside, expunged from her record after 5 years if remain law abiding… Penalty will be time served, and some fees. Mark my words.
